Project scope :

The project aims to upgrade a security-screening system for passenger baggage at Main Terminal Building (MTB) and to overhaul of its baggage-handling systems to comply with new explosive detection requirements. The project work involved in conducting study and design of HBS, BHS and associated facilities in order to meet the following requirements: To upgrade existing Baggage Handling System (BHS) by combining loop of conveyors system from East and West sides, to upgrade existing computer network of BHS by replacing hardware and software to increase efficiency of the whole system, to upgrade existing Explosive Detection System–EDS, including upgrade conveyor system that feeds baggage into/out of the new EDS machines, to improve the rooms in sorting area including Baggage Control room, Sever room, Baggage Operation Center, Unidentified Baggage & Spare parts rooms, and AOT’s Staff room to meet functional requirements of AOT, and to upgrade existing building services system to meet the requirements of the upgraded BHS and HBS.

Design Stage 

Conducting survey to gather information of the maximum number of baggage to be handled, survey and design conveyor system connecting BHS between east and west sides, survey and design the conveyor system that feed baggage into/out of existing EDS machines, survey and design to upgrade existing EDS as well as design to replace existing EDS machine with the new one, survey and design to upgrade existing computer network of BHS include replace hardware and software to increase efficiency of the whole system, survey and design of new platform where the new EDS machines will be place, survey and design to improve the rooms in sorting area in terms of functionality as well as to upgrade all related building services system for those rooms. Preparing tender documents include tender drawings, technical specifications, BOQ, Instructions to Tenderer and Conditions of Contract.

Construction Stage 

  • •  Review work plan and shop drawings to ensure quality and completed works meet all the standards and technical specifications set out in Contract documents
  • •  Supervise construction activities on site to ensure all works comply with the agreed schedule and budget, terms and conditions of the Contracts, standard engineering practice, and AOT's safeguards policies
  • •  Monitor and report on progress and quality of works, and provide technical guidance and issue instructions to contractors
  • •  Monitor and supervise testing of materials, systems and installation works
  • •  Review and certify work volume, and process interim payments of the contractors
  • •  Provide technical support to AOT in project management, including risk management, cost control, scheduling, monitoring and reporting
