The double track railway project aims to increase in line capacity and to improve environment and efficiency of rail transport in rural and urban areas. The total 421 km long of southern line double track railway project is divided into 6 main contracts which are:

Contract 1-Comprising of civil work and trackwork for Nakorn Prathom–Hua Hin sectionfrom Nakorn Pathom upto Nong Pla lai, the work includes: construction of new meter gauge railway track along existing line total distance 93 km, 82 reinforced concrete railway bridges and one steel structure railway bridge, 12 flyover bridges across railway track, 19 overpass U-turnsand 3 underpasses, and 17 on-grade railway stations. Other railway associated civil works include drainage system, pedestrian bridge and fencing.

Contract 2-Comprising of civil work and trackwork for Nakorn Prathom–Hua Hin sectionfrom Nong Pla lai up to Hua Hin, the work includes: construction of new meter gauge railway trackalong existing line total distance 76 km, 92 reinforced concrete railway bridges and one elevated railway along the existing line, 17 flyover bridges across railway track, 11 overpass U-turns, 9 on-grade railway stations and one elevated station. Other railway associated civil works include drainage system, pedestrian bridge and fencing.

Contract 3-Comprising of civil work and trackwork for Hua Hin–Prachaub Khiri Khan section, the work includes: construction of new meter gauge railway track along existing line total distance 84 km, 82 reinforced concrete railway bridges, 3 flyover bridges across railway track, 3overpass U-turns and 34 underpasses box culvert, 12 on-grade railway stations, container yard and container loading dock at Sam Rio Yord and Thung Mamao stations. Other railway associated civil works include drainage system, pedestrian bridge and fencing.

Contract 4-Comprising of civil work and trackwork for Prachaub Khiri Khan-Chumporn section from Prachaub Khiri Khan up to Bang Saparn Noi the work includes: construction of new meter gauge railway track along existing line total distance 88 km, 88 reinforced concrete railway bridges and 8 steel structure railway bridges, 10 flyover bridges across railway track, 10 overpass U-turns and 21 underpasses box culvert, 10 on-grade railway stations, container yard and container loading dock at Wah Kor (new) and Napak Kuang stations. Other railway associated civil works include drainage system, pedestrian bridge and fencing.

Contract 5-Comprising of civil work and trackwork for Prachaub Khiri Khan-Chumpornsection from Bang Saparn Noi up to Chumporn the work includes: construction of new meter gauge railway track along existing line total distance 80 km, 73 reinforced concrete railway bridges and 3 steel structure railway bridges, 12 flyover bridges across railway track, 3 overpass U-turns and 21 underpasses box culvert, 10 on-grade railway stations, container yard and container loading dock at Marb Ammarit and Saplee stations. Other railway associated civil works include drainage system, pedestrian bridge and fencing.

Contract 6-Comprising of procurement and installation of railway signaling and telecommunication systems for the whole project route.
